The book tells the history of Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who joined Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and revolutionized secret warfare.
