Knicks Fire Woodson and Staff

WNYC News | Apr 21, 2014

The New York Knicks have fired head coach Mike Woodson and his entire staff.

In a statement, Knicks President Phil Jackson said the coaches and players had an extremely difficult season, and blame should not be put on one individual.

"But the time has come for change throughout the franchise," Jackson said.

Woodson coached the Knicks for the past two seasons and guided the team to two playoff appearances and a division title during the 2012-13 season.

The Knicks missed the playoffs this season and ended with a 37-45 record. During his tenure as coach Woodson had an overall record of 109-79.

The team will begin the search for a new coach immediately.
