New York City Opera: Puccini Celebration at Bryant Park

Giacomo Puccini died 100 years ago, leaving behind some of the most famous melodies in the history of opera. Even if you’re not a fan of opera, you might be surprised at how familiar some of Puccini’s greatest hits are. The New York City Opera is presenting two free concerts of Puccini’s music, including at least one excerpt from each of his operas, as part of Bryant Park’s Picnic Performance series. Don’t be surprised to hear the famously heartbreaking aria, “Un Bel Di,” from Madame Butterfly at some point, along with "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot. The New York City Opera’s Puccini Celebration is free, May 31 and June 1, at Bryant Park.
