New Jersey to Spend $10 Million on Election Security

New Jersey will spend $10.2 million to shore up the state's election security, according to an announcement from the N.J. Department of State. The plan will fund programs through the year 2023.

Most of the funding comes from a federal grant, with just $487,873 in matching funds from the state. 

The Department of State says it will use the funds to improve cybersecurity and the physical security of voting machines, and modernize the way voter registration information is checked and secured.

It will also pilot a program for new county election voting machines that create a paper trail. And money will be spent on ensuring polling places are wheelchair accessible.
