Natalie Merchant first gained fame as the lead singer of the best-selling band 10,000 Maniacs. And she was immediately successful when she launched her solo career in 1995. But she’s also been an activist and a teacher, so there have been gaps between many of her albums. In April Merchant will release a new record called Keep Your Courage, her first in six years, and to whet your appetite she’s released this single called “Come On, Aphrodite,” which addresses the Greek goddess of love – and lists some of the cliches about how love makes you feel: being drunk or blind, weak in the knees, and half out of our minds.
