The Colombian band with the French name, Monsieur Periné, has made its sizable reputation on sultry dance music that blends 20th century swing with traditional Colombian rhythms and the sounds of Western pop. It’s been five years since their last album, but now Monsieur Periné has released a new record called Bolero Apocaliptico, which incorporates some electronics and elements of rap and reggaeton, without ever losing the band’s old-school sound. Monsieur Periné plays Thursday, June 8, in The Greene Space, and if you can’t make it in person there’s a live stream on thegreenespace.org.
