Mayor's Press Conference

Democrat Howard Samuels endorses Mayor Lindsay as an independent candidate for mayor in 1969. Samuels says American cities are in trouble and that the country needs to reorder priorities. He says there should be a cut back in military spending and there is a need for tax reform. He says the middle class and poor have common interests and need to recognize that. He compares his endorsement of Lindsay and an independent to FDR's endorsement for La Guardia in 1941 as a fusion candidate.

Mayor Lindsay thanks Samuels and takes questions from reporters.
