It’s been ten years since guitarist Marnie Stern last released a record. Playing in the house band for The Late Show with Seth Meyers and raising a family have kept her busy, but now, she has released a new album called The Comeback Kid. And while Stern is on both Rolling Stone and Spin’s lists of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, she’s not so interested in showing off her chops here. “Til It’s Over” for example restrains all that fiery, virtuosic energy she’s become famous for, and instead concentrates on the song itself, which in this case is a straightahead rocker.
