Margo Price is a rapidly rising figure in the often cutthroat world of Nashville singer-songwriters. She’s released two albums of her own work on Jack White’s record label and just received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Meanwhile, she’s also sung with numerous other groups, and when the band Mercury Rev decided to cover a largely forgotten record by one of Price’s heroes, Bobby Gentry, she signed right up for that too. Here’s her take on Bobbie Gentry’s “Sermon.” Margo Price plays tomorrow night, Dec. 29, at Asbury Lanes, in Asbury Park.
