Lucy Dacus at White Eagle Hall
Tickets: $20-22. Show at 8 pm.

Singer and guitarist Lucy Dacus made her first album as a school project with a friend. Then last year she released Historian, which catapulted her to sudden indie-rock fame. Her songs are full of trenchant, sometimes biting lyrics about gender, the creative process, and of course, relationships. This track, called Night Shift, builds slowly, and in the end turns out to be a wry take on the old breakup song. “You got a 9 to 5 so I’ll take the night shift,” she sings, “and I’ll never see you again if I can help it.” Lucy Dacus plays tonight at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City with Mal Blum and Fenne Lily.
