Author and former researcher for Human Rights Watch Ben Rawlence discusses Dadaab, an isolated refugee settlement located deep within the desert of northern Kenya. In his book, City of Thorns: 9 Lives in the World's Largest Refugee Camp, Rawlence embeds himself within the camp, and learns about the refugees who came seeking sanctuary but found a hostile, desperate existence.
