Laurel Canyon at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls
July 4. 8PM. $15.39

If you’re looking to see some live music on the Fourth of July, perhaps pick something that can be heard over the citywide din of fireworks? The band Laurel Canyon might fit the bill – these Bethlehem, Pennsylvania garage rockers take their name from the LA neighborhood that became a center of soft rock and pop in the 60s and 70s. But this Laurel Canyon seems less interested in, say, Joni Mitchell or Linda Ronstadt and more into bands like Iron Butterfly, whose epic song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida gets a pretty clear reference in their track called “Garden of Eden.” They also recorded with the late Steve Albini on a few of their tracks. Laurel Canyon plays on July 4 at The Knitting Factory at Baker Falls on Avenue A.
