Lanterns on the Lake – "The Likes Of Us"
When we last heard the English rock band Lanterns On The Lake, they were sketching a world wracked by climate change and rising nationalism. Singer and songwriter Hazel Wilde’s characters were trying to maintain their sanity, their family, and their humanity in the face of a climate apocalypse. Now a mother, Wilde refuses to bow to cynicism or nihilism on the band’s new album, Versions of Us, and sings of her belief that we can do better, as stewards of our planet and of each other. “You say luck wouldn’t grace the likes of us,” she sings, over the defiant roar of the electric guitars, “but I wouldn’t be so sure.” This new song, "The Likes of Us", by Lanterns On The Lake is part of the Weekly Music Roundup.
