Landing of the Queen Mary

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Mitchell Jablons reporting via mobile transmitter from Pier 90 in New York on the return of 12,000 troops on the Queen Mary. Interference in the report and overhead music is noted. The report includes an interview with Corporal T5 William Miller from Harrisburg, PA, who had been overseas for thirteen months, men cheering as they disembark the ship on route to their camps and, if they are off to the Pacific, home for at least 30 days. Also an interview with a Captain as he disembarks, and interviews with soldiers. The recording fades out and is cut in by the studio engineer.
