Lamont 'U-God' Hawkins on His Life in the Wu-Tang Clan

Midday on WNYC | Mar 26, 2018

Wu-Tang Clan’s founding member Lamont "U-God" Hawkins discusses his memoir Raw: My Journey into the Wu-Tang. Raised by a single mother in Brownsville, New York, during the 1970's, Hawkins learned from an early age how to survive in the projects. He tells the story of how he met and befriended those who would eventually form the Clan’s core: RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, and Masta Killa.

Hawkins will be in conversation with Sacha Jenkins, creative director of Mass Appeal, on March 26 at 7 pm at Housing Works (126 Crosby Street).

This segment is guest hosted by Hari Kondabolu.
