Gina Izzo is a classical flutist, but her own music draws on electronics, improvisation, and an amps-to-11 sound that we don’t associate with the flute or with classical music. Izzo is about to release an album under the name ladyybirdd – spelled with two Ys and two Ds – and it features a number of like-minded musical guests, but even on tracks where it’s just Izzo herself playing, the sound is light years beyond what you’d expect from a “solo flutist.” ladyybirdd (flutist Gina Izzo) celebrates the release of her album, Tomorrow’s Yesterday, with a show on Aug. 23 at Joe’s Pub.
