As a singer and songwriter, Gabriel Kahane creates an arty form of pop that reflects his classical music background. As a classical composer, he writes works that have the directness and melodic invention of pop. Kahane gets to show off both halves of his musical persona in a concert with the NY chamber orchestra The Knights, who will play Gabriel Kahane’s piano concerto, written for his dad, the veteran pianist Jeffrey Kahane, as well as an orchestrated version of his song, called “Where Are The Arms.” Gabriel Kahane joins The Knights on May 16 at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall.
