Russian electronic music producer Kate Shilonosova records under the name Kate NV. Over the past 8 years she’s released five albums, some in Moscow but the latest while in Serbia, all of which give the impression of a songwriter who’s written a bunch of pop songs, then thrown them into a blender and fed the results through her computer. Her last record was called simply WOW, and on it was this track, with its unexpected Japanese vocals and its hyperpop sound, is called “oni.” Kate NV improvises on electronics, bells and water glasses in a free show on March 14 at the Rubinstein Atrium of Lincoln Center.
