The Danish guitarist Jakob Bro has played jazz with drummer Paul Motion and electronic music with the producer Thomas Knak. But left to his own devices, he plays music that’s neither one thing nor the other. Especially with his longstanding trio with New Yorkers Joey Baron and Thomas Morgan on drums and bass, respectively. Although he can show off his virtuosity when it’s called for, Jakob Bro’s own compositions tend to be more reserved than flashy – this piece, called “Mild,” has a typical nocturnal sound. Jakob Bro and his trio will be at the Village Vanguard, starting Tuesday night, July 5 and running through Sunday, July 10.
