Folk singer Jake Xerxes Fussell is part of the remarkable collection of musicians based in North Carolina for whom old Appalachian tunes are just as crucial as the sounds of indie rock, alt country, or other contemporary music. Fussell’s brand new album, Good and Green Again, is a little more melancholy in tone than his earlier records, and includes a mix of originals and older songs. Jake Xerxes Fussell plays Thursday night, Jan. 26, at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn.
