Fiddler Jake Blount is also an award-winning banjo player, singer, and musicologist. He draws out the often hidden Black and Native American roots of American folk music, and he’s recently formed a trio with cellist Sammy Wetstein and the percussive folk dancer Nic Gareiss to explore traditional songs, both well-known and obscure, and to pass along the stories that go with each. The trio plays May 28 at Joe’s Pub.
