Jacques d'Amboise & Charlotte d’Amboise On Why Arts Education Matters

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 12, 2017

Jacques d'Amboise founded the National Dance Institute in 1976 while working as a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. His goal, which continues to this day, was to spread arts education and dance to younger generations. He joins us to look back on his work and career along with his daughter, dancer and actor Charlotte d’Amboise. They also discuss their upcoming special benefit performance "Songs I've Sung on Broadway...and One I Wish I Had," which features Charlotte, Glenn Close and Michael Cerveris among others.

"Songs I've Sung on Broadway...and One I Wish I Had" takes place Oct. 16 at the National Dance Institute Center for Learning & The Arts (217 W 147th St., between Adam Clayton Powell & Frederick Douglass Blvds.). The cocktail reception begins at 6:30 p.m.

Note: Ilya Marritz guest-hosted this segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show."
