In Seattle, A Giant Tunnel-Boring Machine Named Bertha Finishes Its Dig

This week President Trump said his administration is working on an infrastructure initiative which could cost $1 trillion. One city that’s now in the middle of a huge infrastructure project is Seattle, which has reached a milestone in its plans to move a two-mile section of a state highway underground.

After nearly four years, the giant tunnel boring machine known as Bertha has finished its dig underneath the city. Kate Walters of Here & Now contributor KUOW was there when Bertha finally broke through.
