How Art Can Transform Life for Inmates

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 3, 2017

Brian Fisher, former commissioner of the New York State Department of Corrections, joins us to discuss the documentary, “Dramatic Escape,” which follows the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) theatrical production of “A Few Good Men” at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. He’ll be joined by Clarence Maclin and Johnny Hincapie, two RTA alums who are featured in the documentary. The film follows prisoners from audition through curtain call, and gives an inside look at the transformative art workshops and productions that teach critical skills for life inside and outside of prison.

The next public screening of Rehabilitation Through the Arts' "Dramatic Escape" is Monday, March 6th at 6:30pm at 150 W. 83rd St. on the Upper West Side. For more information, click here.
