The German composer Volker Bertelmann has spent most of his career recording under the name Hauschka. Although at the 2022 Academy Awards, it was Volker Bertelmann who took home the Oscar for his score to All Quiet On The Western Front. Now, though back in the studio and using the name Hauschka, he’s performing on his favorite instrument, the prepared piano – a regular piano with lots of stuff placed on the strings to change the sound. Hauschka brings his music for prepared piano to Le Poisson Rouge on Feb. 23; Christopher Tignor opens the night.
