From Havana comes the sound of pianist Harold López-Nussa. He leads what looks like a standard jazz trio – piano, bass, drums – but the sounds of Cuban music, especially Afro-Cuban music, are woven throughout his work. López-Nussa’s first album was released here after the Obama administration loosened trade and travel restrictions with Cuba; his new album comes at a time when those restrictions have been tightened again, and offers the hope that music can’t be stopped at the border. Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa's trio plays Tuesday, July 31, and Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Jazz Standard.
