Harlem Stage: José James Sings Badu at Bryant Park
Sept. 14. 7PM. FREE

José James got into jazz through hip hop. He noticed that his favorite acts were using lots of samples, and that eventually led to James developing his distinctive blend of jazz, soul, and R&B. While he’s mostly sung his own music over the years, José James has occasionally covered songs by some of his favorite artists (Bill Withers, Gil Scott-Heron, and Billie Holiday.) On Sept. 14, José plays a whole show of songs by Erykah Badu in a free show at Bryant Park.
