4 Dead And Gunman Killed In Shooting On Chattanooga Military Offices

Another horror in America, this time on two military facilities at Chattanooga, Tennessee where a gunman opened fired on Thursday, killing four marines and wounding several others, including a police officer and Marine recruiter. The gunman was also killed.

The gunman has been identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. He was believed to have been born in Kuwait, and it is unclear whether he was a U.S. or Kuwaiti citizen. He is from Hixson, Tennessee, which is just a few miles away from Chattanooga.

Officials said that the gunman had numerous weapons, and FBI Special Agent Ed Reinhold said the case was being treated like a terrorism investigation for the time being.

The shooting occurred at a military facility on Amnicola Highway and a recruiting center on Lee Highway in Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke spoke after the shooting on Thursday. “Today is a nightmare for the city of Chattanooga," he said. "Around eleven this morning, we had someone attack at two different locations people who proudly serve our country.”

U.S. Senator Bob Corker who is from Tennessee and served one term as mayor of Chattanooga said in a statement, “I am heartbroken by the tragic shootings that have taken place today in my hometown." “We have been in touch with federal, state and local officials and continue to monitor developments and have offered our assistance. This is a difficult day for Tennesseans and our thoughts and prayers are with all affected by this tragedy.”
