Girl Ultra at SOB's
June 6. $22. 7PM. 18+

Girl Ultra is the stage name of Mariana de Miguel, a singer/writer/creative from Mexico City. She sings in Spanish but grew up on English-language acts like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and Britney Spears, and despite the title of her song, “Punk,” Girl Ultra is essentially an R&B singer who infuses her music with UK garage, house, and indie rock influences, and references Kaytranada and J Dilla in her production. In the song "Punk", a collaboration with the Mexico City rock band called Little Jesus, she adds a note of Brazilian pop and a bit of indie cool. The song is a celebration of the city’s south side, where as Girl Ultra sings, “we have to wear something punk.”  The Mexican singer Girl Ultra plays Monday, June 6 at SOBs.
