The JACK Quartet is a string quartet that doesn’t play the usual Beethoven or Mozart fare. JACK specializes in contemporary music, including pieces that involve improvisation, multimedia, or unusual techniques. They’ve played at The Stone, the no-frills experimental music club founded by composer John Zorn, and now they’re playing at Stonefest, which celebrates the impending move of The Stone from its Lower East Side location to its new home at the New School. JACK Quartet, along with the Kris Davis Trio and John Zorn’s Cobra, are on tonight’s program called Stonefest at The New School.
