The 150 Psalms have been set to music countless times over the centuries. This year’s White Light Festival is in midst of a series of concerts called The Psalms Experience which features four choirs from four different countries performing all 150 psalms over 12 concerts in 10 days.
WQXR's contributors are doing in-depth recaps of all 10 days and 150 composers of The Psalms Experience. So far, they have recaps of the first four concerts.
The fifth concert is the early show tonight, and sixth concert in the series (also tonight - the late show at 8:30PM) features the Tallis Scholars from England performing new and old settings of the Psalms, including this 15th century setting of Psalm 146, by the early French composer Pierre de la Rue. "Lauda anima mea Dominum" is one of the Psalms being sung tonight at the Ethical Culture Society of New York by the Tallis Scholars.
