Margaret Garrett and Tara McManus were just two friends in Boston when they locked themselves in a basement for a year and saturated their ears with blues records. One that apparently stood out was a cut by Chicago blues legend Howlin’ Wolf called Mr. Airplane Man, because that’s the name the duo adopted when they started performing in and around Cambridge, before going on to tour with acts like The White Stripes and the Strokes.
