Mexican mariachi bands have, historically, been led by men. But that’s starting to change: The nine-member group Flor de Toloache calls themselves New York City’s first all-female mariachi ensemble. The band takes their name comes from a poisonous night flower that’s been known to show up in a love potion or two over the centuries; while we can't confirm that, we do know that their high-energy performances and revolutionary attitude makes them hard not to fall in love with.
