Even though George Clinton is regarded as the godfather of funk, lots of Clinton's sound actually came courtesy of Parliament-Funkadelic Bernie Worrell. Bernie's gone on to add funk flavor to everything from Talking Heads albums to the house band in the recent Meryl Streep/Jonathan Demme film, Ricki and The Flash. Bernie recently announced that he has late-stage cancer, so tonight funk bretheren like George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Living Colour and Bill Laswell circle the wagons with friends like Demme and Streep to raise funds.
