The singer and songwriter Ala.ni comes to us from England – though it may sound like she comes to us from the 1940s. Born in London to Caribbean parents and now based in Paris, Ala.ni has a remarkable voice that goes from Billie Holiday-inflected torch songs to lovely pop ballads to wordless vocalise. She made her American radio debut early this year here in our studio, and tonight, she’s moving to the big stage – Central Park Summer Stage. Ala.ni is part of tonight’s free Central Park Summer Stage concert.
