Getting the Bronx up to speed on broadband Internet

WNYC News | Mar 11, 2024

Fifty community leaders have compiled a list of 50 ideas for improving the Bronx. One of the top suggestions is to expand broadband internet in the borough. The report says close to 40% of Bronx residents lack access to high-speed Internet at home, and getting them up to speed with the rest of the city is essential for better education and higher-paying jobs.

Dr. Meisha Porter is President and CEO of the Bronx Community Foundation, which published the report along with the Center for an Urban Future. Porter is also the former New York City Chancellor of Public Schools. She joined WNYC's Morning Edition host Michael Hill to discuss getting the Bronx on the path to equity.
