George R. Metcalf

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Thomas H. Allen interviews George R. Metcalf, former legislator and author of _Black Profiles_, which highlights the lives of eleven African Americans prominent in civil rights, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., William E. B. Du Bois, Harriet Tubman, Medgar Wiley Evers, Whitney Moore Young, Jr. and Malcolm X. Mr. Metcalf believes blacks and whites need to work together, lest the United States fall apart at the seams.
