Art Brut's "Formed A Band":

"This is what every band thinks when they start. They think they're gonna be the biggest thing in the world, and that everyone's gonna love them. They're gonna change the world with their music. Art Brut just kind of destroys that in one song." 

Das Racist's "Fake Patois":

"The whole song is about people who use fake Jamaican patois throughout entertainment. In order to spoof that, they're using a fake patois throughout the song.... And for some reason, they decide to mention that Sean Bridge Mohan is the first Jamaican in the Kentucky Derby. Over and over."

Morrissey's "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful": 

"He's funny throughout his stuff -- he's so awful and miserable, and yet you kind of like him because he's so clever. As a comedic piece, he's talking about destroying his friends because he's upset that they're successful. And if they're northern -- that makes it even worse!" 

Jens Lekman's "A Postcard to Nina":

"This is such a sweet song -- but the scenario is incredible. The whole song's about his best friend being a lesbian, and her dad doesn't know, so he has to pose as her boyfriend. The whole time, him and the father are interacting and he's forgetting what the lie is that they came up with. It's not a laugh riot but it's a funny scenario." 

Belle and Sebastian's "Piazza, New York Catcher":

"I remember being in college and this came on the radio and me and my friends just started laughing. It was during that time period when Mike Piazza, the New York Mets catcher, there were rumors that he was gay. This was the climate at the time -- he actually had a press conference to say he was not gay. Nothing else to the press conference, but to address those rumors."
