Fowl Play: Conference of the Birds at LaMaMa
Nov. 29-Dec. 8. 7PM $25-$30. $10 for members

A 12th century Sufi text, a Czechoslovakian-American puppet company, parking tickets and political flyers, and a rock band all come together in the show called Fowl Play – that’s Fowl like a bird, inspired by the medieval Sufi poem “The Conference of the Birds.” This puppet rock opera follows a flock of birds as they search in vain for their leader. The human performers wear magpie-like costumes made from bags, flags, flowers, and papers, and the music is by Avi Fox-Rosen who has written new music for the production. Fowl Play: Conference of the Birds  is running weekends through December 8 at La Mama with shows Nov. 29-30 at 7PM, Dec. 1 at 2PM; Dec. 4-7 at 7PM, and Dec. 8 at 2PM.
