Flamenco Takes Over New York

It's a good time to be a Flamenco enthusiast in New York City. Over the next several weeks, acclaimed Flamenco dancers and their companies will be performing their own distinctly unique styles of the traditional Spanish dance all over Manhattan. 

Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya, the dancer better known as Farruquito, was born into flamenco dynasty. In a rare US appearance, he brings his new show "Farruquito" to Town Hall, featuring excerpts of the most important moments in his career, as well as a danced dialogue between himself and his grandfather, the legendary "El Farruco."

Renowned dancer Sara Baras celebrates the 20th Anniversary of her company, Ballet Flamenco, at New York City Center. "Shadows" features Baras' famous footwork in dances traditionally performed by men.

Finally, Noche Flamenca and its star, Soledad Barrio, take up a residency at the Connelley Theater for a new program called "Entre Tú y Yo," featuring duets, solos and group performances with both the company and top performers from Spain.

Farruquito takes place February 22 at 8pm at The Town Hall.

Sara Baras and Ballet Flamenco's Shadows runs March 7-10 at New York City Center, co-presented by Flamenco Festival.

Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenco's Entre Tú y Yo runs March 8-31 at The Connelly Theater in the East Village.
