Although he’s still in his twenties, Evan Sherman is a veteran jazz drummer and arranger. He’s toured with Wynton Marsalis and for the past 7 years he’s led the Evan Sherman Big Band, where he gets to show off his composition and arranging chops. Keeping a big band together is a tall order at the best of times, which these definitely are not. But Sherman also has a slightly smaller group, a sextet, and they are doing two streaming sets live at Smalls this evening.
