Eurydice at the Met Opera
Nov. 23, 27, 30; Dec. 4, 8, 11, 16. $30 and up.

Operas based on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice are as old as opera itself. Now, American composer Matthew Aucoin has added a new opera to this four-hundred year old tradition. But his opera is different: instead of focusing on Orpheus, whose music is so beguiling that he convinces Hades to let him have his dead wife back, Aucoin worked with Sarah Ruhl on adapting her play, called Eurydice, for the opera stage. And it brings us the story from her point of view. Eurydice, the opera by Matthew Aucoin and Sarah Ruhl opens at the Met Opera on Tuesday, November 23, and runs through December 16.
