Uber Takes a Big Hit in Europe

The European Union’s highest court came down hard on Uber this week, ruling that the ride-hailing service should be regulated like any other taxi operator across the E.U.

Uber fought for a long time to be treated by governments like a digital platform only, relieving them of the responsibility and liability of traditional taxi operators, and letting them avoid other rules governing the transport services industry.  

No longer, at least not in the E.U.
