Man's Two Decade Fight to Prove Innocence Chronicled in New Podcast 'Empire on Blood'
WNYC News | Mar 28, 2018
Calvin “Cal” Buari was a flashy drug dealer in the 1990's on a Bronx corner dubbed "the Corner on Blood” for the violence that unfurled there.
But Buari got tangled up in former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's war on crime and was charged and convicted of a double-homicide Buari said he didn't commit. He's maintained his innocence from behind bars for 22 years.
Last year, Buari was released after his conviction was overturned.
Reporter Steve Fishman spent the last seven years unraveling Buari's case for his new podcast "Empire on Blood."
Fishman spoke with All Things Considered host Jami Floyd.
