Emanuel Ax at Carnegie Hall
Tickets: $40-109. Show at 8 pm.

Grammy-winning pianist Emanuel Ax is a sought-after soloist, a longtime collaborator of cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and a champion of new music. He’s also been known to help create the New York Times crossword puzzle. He’s an American citizen, but was born in Ukraine and grew up in Poland and Canada before settling in New York when he was twelve. He still speaks Polish though, and seems to have a natural affinity for the music of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin. Chopin wrote 59 of these Mazurkas, based on a popular Polish folk dance. Emanuel Ax plays several Chopin Mazurkas and works by Ravel, Schumann, Brahms, and more, at Carnegie Hall.
