Ed Mullins' Power Over New York City's Police Force

WNYC News | Aug 21, 2020

Over 300,000 complaints filed against members of the New York City police department were released to the public yesterday. Even though New York state repealed the law that should have made those records available back in June, police unions have sued to stop the information from coming out. Ed Mullins, head of one of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, is at the forefront of that fight and is known for his inflammatory language.

Over the years, Mullins has been accused of racism, homophobia and misogyny. He's seen as one of the most outspoken opponents of police reform. Reporter James Walsh profiled him for New York Magazine.
