Visiting Dream Worlds Through Cinema

The Leonard Lopate Show | Dec 14, 2016

Chrissie Iles, the Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Curator at the Whitney Museum, discusses the “Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016” exhibit at The Whitney. The exhibit focuses on the ways in which artists have dismantled and reassembled the conventions of cinema, using screen, projection, darkness to create new experiences of the moving image. The title refers to the science fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft’s alternate fictional dimension, which can be visited only through dreams.

"Dreamlands" runs through February 5th at The Whitney (99 Gansevoort Street). For tickets and more information, visit their website
