Creating The Weapons Of Tomorrow

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 29, 2017

Sharon Weinberger, national security editor at The Intercept, joins us to discuss her latest book, The Imagineers of War: The Untold Story of DARPA, the Pentagon Agency That Changed the World. Weinberger shows how the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s original mission of creating “the unimagined weapons of the future” shaped war and technology for nearly 60 years. This included developing weapons like Agent Orange and armed drones, as well as advancing technology for systems like self-driving cars.
