Dessa – "The Chaconne" (Weekly Music Roundup)

The singer and rapper known as Dessa is part of the hip hop collective Doomtree, based in the Twin Cities. Her songs, whether bleak portrayals of street life or reflections of romantic entanglements, often have a big, ambitious sound; so when she was offered the chance to play some of her music with the Minnesota Orchestra, Dessa leapt at the opportunity. This song, "The Chaconne," used the imagery of classical music in its original version anyway, so the orchestral version turned out particularly well.
