DeRay Mckesson on Politics & Social Activism
The Brian Lehrer Show | Mar 5, 2019
DeRay Mckesson, co-founder of Campaign Zero, host of Pod Save The People and author of On the Other Side of Freedom: The Case for Hope (Viking, 2018), discusses the latest news on the presidential race, social activism and criminal justice.
"The interesting thing about the number of people incarcerated is that the numbers aren’t dropping," says @deray. "California let so many people out of prison that the entire national average dropped, but across the board it’s still bad."

"We arrest more people for drugs… NYC has obviously been leading in the decriminalization but still in NYC, 90 percent of the people arrested for marijuana are black and brown. The disparities are still showing up across the country," says @deray.
